Experts have long found a connection between covid and nerve damage. Researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital and the National Institutes of Health have uncovered evidence of peripheral neuropathy; Symptoms include weakness, limb pain and fatigue.

“Our findings show that some long-covid patients have damage to their peripheral nerve fibers and may have damage to short-fiber-type nerve cells,” said Ann Lewis Oaklander, lead investigator in the Department of Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Regarding the effects of this condition, the researcher said, “I think what is happening here is that the nerves that control our breathing, blood vessels and in some cases our digestion are damaged in these long covid patients.”
