The results of the first edition of the Common University Entrance Test for undergraduate admissions were announced on Friday last week. Initially, the result was supposed to be declared by 10 pm on Thursday but it got delayed due to huge database.
“The merit lists will be prepared by the participating universities, who will decide on their individual counseling based on the CHEET-UG score card,” said Sadhan Parashar, Senior Director (Examination), NTA.
The first edition of Chuet-UG, the gateway to undergraduate admissions in all central universities, began in July and ended on August 30. Sixty percent attendance was recorded in the examination.
As per the initial plan, Chuet-UG was supposed to end on August 20. However, the exam was further postponed and divided into six phases for students whose exams were rescheduled due to several glitches.
Technical glitches, last-minute changes in exam centres, unknown changes in exam dates and admit cards mentioning past dates were some of the problems students faced during the exam.
With 14.9 lakh registrations, CUET is now the country’s second largest entrance exam, surpassing JEE-Main’s average registration of nine lakh. NEET-UG is India’s largest entrance exam with an average of 18 lakh applicants.
