Google Autoplay is further changing the ‘feed playback’ feature Android Police says it has begun testing A / B, a new auto playback feature for Google Feeds.
According to reports, the YouTube app now automatically starts playing any video from the Discover tab, and while doing so, the background and the rest of the YouTube home feed to highlight the video become a bit dark. The new playback introduces new controls for mute, share and more
The new interface appeared in beta version 17.10.35 and the report suggested that it was part of the company’s server-side testing. It looks like Chrome’s Turn of the Light extension ChromeWhich blurs the rest of the interface except the video player.
No doubt, the feature looks good, especially if you’re just trying to focus on the video. But in the case of the YouTube app, this seems to be mandatory for users because the video will be random and will appear as an advertisement, even for a moment.
However, it is not certain whether Google will allow users to manually enable or disable this feature, such as the ability to control automatic playback functionality. But, considering the past, Google will probably offer an alternative to control it.
This is to remind us that the feature is still in beta stage and will probably never reach the final build of the app.
