MeitY Startup Hub, an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and Google 100 Indians have announced the integration of primary to mid-level startups and will help them create high-quality global apps and games. 35% of the team comes from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities; 58% of leadership roles are held by a woman. The main sectors of the cohort are: education, health, finance, social, ecommerce and gaming.
The initiative is part of Google’s AppScale Academy. Its goal Appscale Academy It is said to identify and support promising Indian startups and help turn them into successful global businesses.
100 selected startups have been selected from over 400 applications received. The main selection parameters are called: their creative idea and innovation, product quality, product scalability and talent diversity.
It is a six-month program that will train these 100 startups through a customized curriculum that will enable them to create high-quality apps for the global market. Appscale Academy cohort startups are addressing some of India’s everyday, critical and unique needs through creative indigenous solutions. It includes startups supporting core Indian communities through creative apps across agriculture, B2B, parenting and more.
Startups will have access to virtual instructor-led webinars, self-learning materials, and mentorship sessions with leading local and global industry professionals. Selected startups will also have the opportunity to pitch to leading venture capitalists.
