Protein is needed in different amounts by different people because there are some factors that affect the amount of protein that one should take. Body weight, height, muscle mass, physical goal, deficit, age and injury. Pregnancy, weight training and injuries are special conditions that increase a person’s need for protein. Since protein requirements depend on many factors, it is important for each person to evaluate their health status and determine the amount of protein they should eat. Pregnant and lactating women also need more protein on a daily basis because the body needs protein for two people at a time. Protein levels need to be monitored when women are pregnant or breastfeeding.
