Indian diaspora has a role in boosting capacity of country’s workforce: Dharmendra Pradhan

Addressing the plenary session on ‘Global Mobility of Indian Workforce – Role of Indian Diaspora’ on 17th Diaspora Indian Day 2023, the Minister said diaspora is an integral part of India’s civilization. “It played an important role in his great journey. It is creating a new Indian model for service to humanity.”

Talking about the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and a new skill approach, Pradhan said the government is envisioning a flexible model with multiple entry-exit and skill pathways that focus on skill building. “Indian workforce is hardworking, honest and responsible. India can emerge as a global hub for skilled manpower.”

He also said that technology is creating new opportunities. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a lot of faith in the vibrant Indian diaspora. He expressed his confidence that our 32 million strong Indian diaspora will use their skills and experiences to cement India’s capacity to serve the global family.”

Later in the day, the Union Minister interacted with the vibrant Indian diaspora in Mauritius and Kuwait. He appreciated their advice on educating the youth about Indian culture, spirituality and traditions.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention is the flagship event of the Government of India. It provides an important platform to engage and connect with overseas Indians and enable expatriates to interact with each other.

The 17th Diaspora Indian Day Conference is being held in Indore from 08-10 January 2023 in partnership with the Government of Madhya Pradesh. The theme of this PBD Convention is “Expatriates: Reliable Partners for India’s Advancement in Amrit Kal”. More than 3,500 expatriate members from around 70 different countries have registered for the PBD convention.
