Announcing the cancellation of the previous PSI recruitment test, the Karnataka government on Friday announced that a new test would be taken for it. Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra said the test date would be announced soon, citing news agency ANI.
The PSI scandal case is related to irregularities in the appointment of police sub-inspectors in the state. Congress MLA and former minister Priyank Kharge alleged that the PSI appointment of more than 545 candidates was a huge scandal and that the government and officials, including the home minister, were clearly involved.
Earlier this week, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bomai had said that everything related to the police sub-inspector (PSI) recruitment scandal would be thoroughly investigated and necessary action would be taken against the culprits.
“Everything that has been found related to the PSI scandal will be investigated. I have not seen the audio yet, but it will be investigated,” Bomai said after releasing some audiotape related to the sword scandal.
According to Bomai, the audio is a conversation between two people and their identification and credibility with the people involved in the scandal will be investigated, “he added.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Team (CID) has arrested the main accused in the scandal, BJP leader Divya Hagaragi and four others.
The fugitive Divya was arrested from Pune on Thursday night in connection with the case.
The Karnataka Home Minister said, “By arresting Divya, it is clear that the government will ensure an independent and impartial inquiry into the case. No one will be spared in the PSI scandal.”
