The memo states that all new appointments made to these businesses must be approved by Jha and his leadership team.
A Microsoft spokesman said the groups had recently expanded and the company wanted to make sure it was hiring the right people in the right place. “As Microsoft prepares for the new fiscal year, it is making sure that the right resources are tied to the right opportunities,” the company said in a statement. “Microsoft will continue to grow headcounts in the coming year and will add additional focus to where those resources go,” the statement added.
These guidelines are not company-wide, and overall Microsoft plans to continue hiring at its set speed. Microsoft’s new fiscal year begins on July 1. The company is hosting its annual developer conference, Build 2022.
