Murmu inaugurates multiple education-related projects in Mizoram

Addressing the 17th convocation of Mizoram University, the President said that Mizoram University is a prominent university in the North-Eastern region imparting quality education. “The university has made serious efforts in promoting academics which has resulted in remarkable progress in the fields of science, arts, commerce, engineering and medical sciences. It has got the status of ‘Institution of Eminence’ and has taken some path breaking initiatives.”

He also said that the university has three incubators to provide innovative and practical training to students. “The university has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various universities and organizations at national and international level for academic and technical cooperation.”

The President said that it has created a new template for other higher education institutions to explore ways of collaborating with national and international organizations and create new benchmarks of excellence in academic and technical fields.

“The gathering is an important occasion to remember and recognize the efforts of their family members who have supported them throughout their journey. The fact that more than 50 percent of students graduating in the 2021-22 academic year are girls is commendable, but this should be a higher rate of growth. We should also ensure that women’s participation in education translates into increased participation in the workforce as well,” said President Murmu.

He also said that the inauguration of two ST Girls Hostels at Mizoram University and Sairang is a step towards empowering girl students by providing quality education and other facilities. “Inauguration of permanent campus of IIMC Aizawl will boost media and mass communication studies in entire Northeast.”
