NEP 2020: Pradhan launches Ramakrishna Mission’s ‘Awakening’ programme

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the ‘Jagaran’ program for students from classes 1 to 5 of the Ramakrishna Mission, the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

This ‘Jagaran’ program is an initiative to ensure holistic personality development of a child in line with the vision of National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.

Speaking on the occasion Pradhan said that NEP 2020 is deeply inspired by the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda, adding that great men of India like Sri Aurobindo, Mahatma Gandhi, Vivekananda envisioned an education system that was progressive and rooted in civilizational values ​​to take the country forward. ahead

According to the ministry, the chief said that social transformation is one of the main goals of education. Values ​​and knowledge are more important than material possessions. He added, value-based education is important for building a future-ready and socially conscious generation.

While implementing NEP 2020, emphasis should be placed on creating value-based educational programs for classes 9 to 12 in addition to classes 1-8.

Pradhan said that the initiative is a step to ensure holistic personality development of a child in line with the philosophy of NEP 2020.

The Minister urged the CBSE to establish an advisory structure to encourage value-based education in all schools from Balvatika to Class XII to create a talent pool ready for the challenges of life and committed to national progress and global welfare.
