QS Asia Universities Rankings 2023: 19 Indian universities feature in top 200

In a major achievement, as many as 19 Indian universities have featured in the top 200 list of the QS Asia University Rankings 2023 released on Tuesday. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay maintained its position as the top university in the country by ranking 40th in the QS Asia University Rankings.

Notably, this is the highest number of Indian universities to make it to this list. 8 out of 19 universities improved their rankings significantly compared to last year.

International ranking agency Quacquarelli Symonds released the Q2 Asia University Rankings on Tuesday.

A number of technical institutes and state universities have made it to the rankings, an official statement said. This year, IIT Bombay remains at the top and is ranked 40th in the ranking. It is followed by IIT Delhi at 46th position. Then comes IISC Bangalore which is ranked 52nd. IIT Madras is ranked 53rd. IIT Kharagpur occupies 61 positions in the list. Five points down is IIT Kanpur at the 66th rank. Delhi University was slightly lower in the ranking at 85. IIT Roorkee stands at 114th rank, followed by JNU at 119, IIT Guwahati at 124 and VIT Vellore at 173.

Some private universities also feature in the list, including Amity University Noida 200 rank. Calcutta University is ranked 181, Jadavpur University 182, Anna University, Chandigarh University 185, IIT Indore 185, BITS Pilani 188, Jamia Millia Islamia 188.

Chandigarh University Ghuruan has improved in the ranking by 90 positions

The second best private university in India, Chandigarh University Gharwan is ranked 185th in Asia. Ranked in the top 200 universities of QS Asia Universities in Asia, the university is known as the youngest university in Asia. This marked a remarkable jump of 90 positions from the QS Asia Rankings, 2022

It is worth noting that the universities that feature in the top 200 list have worked on their academic reputation and international research network.
