Since last year, there has been a sharp 30 percent increase in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), which is commonly used for cooking purposes in Indian households. Currently, a 14.2 kg non-subsidized domestic cylinder costs Rs 1,053 in Delhi. While in Kolkata, the cylinder price will be INR 1,079 and INR 1,052.50 in Mumbai and INR 1,068.50 in Chennai. Apparently, this is the eighth hike in LPG prices by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) since last year and is putting a lot of pressure on Indian households.
