Samsung Last year it launched its first Wear OS-powered smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 4. The company is reportedly working on its successor – the Galaxy Watch 5. A new online report suggests that Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartwatch may miss a feature.
Last month, it was reported that Samsung is working to include a thermometer in the upcoming Galaxy Watch 5 series. The report added that the feature would help in the early detection of Covid-19 and also help in keeping track of the ovulation cycle. However, now a report has been published online stating that the company will not be able to add this feature in the near future. Samsung Galaxy Watch 5.

According to popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi-Kuo, Samsung is facing a challenge to include a thermometer in the Galaxy Watch 5. “The challenge of implementing precise body temperature measurements is that the skin temperature fluctuates rapidly depending on the external environment. A smartwatch cannot support the original temperature measurement in terms of hardware, so it needs an excellent algorithm to work together,” Kuo said.
“Samsung is also facing this challenge. Contrary to previous media reports, I think the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 in 2H22 may not support body temperature measurement due to limitations,” Kuo added.
Apple was expected to include the same feature in last year’s Apple Watch Series 7, but the company had to postpone its plans due to problems with reading algorithms.
This means that users will not be able to see and feel the thermometer feature in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5.
