Tata Consultancy Services has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT M) to launch the AM Tech program for professionals working in Industrial Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The 18-month-long course, designed in consultation with TCS, will be offered by IIT M in full online live teaching mode through virtual classrooms. The course aims to improve corporate personnel in AI applications to solve industry problems. The first batch of students for the program will be from TCS.
The program will include powerful theoretical courses and data science and AI covered lab work. Theoretical courses will cover concepts of basic mathematical techniques required to understand data science algorithms, time series analysis, multivariate data analysis, machine learning, deep learning and reinforcement learning. The applied courses will describe the implementation of AI solutions for industrial problems in a case study format.
K Ananta Krishnan, TCS’s Chief Technology Officer, said, “TCS is a research partner with leading educational institutions for exploring emerging technologies with scientific determination, because they are mainstream.” Co-Innovation Network to create a new MTech program in Industrial AI for working professionals so they can gain in-depth knowledge of data science and AI that they can apply for innovation in the industry. “
Course Coordinator Professor Raghunathan Rengasamy, Dean (Global Engagement), IIT Madras, said, “AI is going to influence every aspect of human experience in the years to come. Designed in partnership with TCS, this course will provide a unique perspective on the impact of AI on industry systems. The use of AI techniques in the industry can lead to processes that are powerful, inherently secure, and ultimately lead to environmentally sound processes. “
The new MTech in Industrial AI program is expected to help build capacity across the Indian workforce in this important field, expand the knowledge ecosystem in AI and machine learning, drive innovation using these technologies and position India as a global innovation powerhouse.
Each subject will have a mid-term and a final examination in online mode, in addition to project work. There will be a total of 28-30 hours of online classes per week, after-class activities, such as assignments, reading and preparation, may take 20-22 hours per week.
