UGC Chief urges central universities to adopt CUET-PG from next academic session

University Grants Commission (UGC) chief M Jagdesh Kumar has requested all central universities to conduct the Common University Entrance Test Post Graduation (CUET-PG) from the next academic year. CUET-PG for admission to academic year 2023-24 will be held from June 1-10.

Talking about the CHUET exam, Kumar said, “As you know, CHUET provides a common platform and equal opportunity to candidates across the country, especially candidates from North-East, rural and other remote areas, and helps to connect them better. Universities. A single test enables candidates to cover a wide outreach and be part of the admission process in various Central and Participating Universities.”

“National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting CUET-UG and PG. All Central Universities should join CUET-PG as they have done for CUET-UG, this will increase opportunities for students across India. India To join the best universities. So, I request all central universities to use CUET-PG score for admission to PG programs,” Kumar added.

Unlike CHEET-UG exam, PG exam is not required for admission in central universities.

NTA has announced the calendar for all major entrance exams 2023. CUET-UG will be conducted from May 21 to May 31, 2023. While the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) will be held from 24th to 31st January and the second phase will be conducted from 6th April to 12th April. The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for medical courses will be held on May 7.

In the inaugural edition of CUET-UG in 2022 more than 14 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. The UGC made it mandatory for all central universities to admit students to undergraduate courses through CUET. As a result, almost all central universities have fully or partially adopted Chute from the academic year 2022-23.
