The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has increased vacancies this year to 1,011 – crossing the 1,000-mark six years later. Vacancies in the civil service have increased due to the latest recruitment for Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) Group ‘A’ staff.
The government has decided to recruit 150 employees for IRMS Group ‘A’ through this year’s Civil Service Examination. Out of 150 vacancies in IRMS, six vacancies are reserved for Benchmark Persons with Disabilities (PWBD).
Therefore, the temporary number of vacancies for the Civil Service Examination will now be 1,011 instead of 861 as indicated earlier. The last time UPSC declared a vacancy above 1,000 was in 2016. During that time, 1,079 job vacancies were published.
Then, in 2017, it was 980 in 2017, 782 in 2018 and 896 in 2019, 796 in 2020 and 712 in 2021. Candidates can go to upsc.gov.in through official notification. About 10 lakh candidates register for UPSC exams every year.
According to an official addition, the Department of Personnel and Training on Thursday issued a notification affecting the inclusion of IRMS, Group ‘A’ in the list of services for recruitment through the Civil Service Examination.
“Notice No. 05/2022, published on the Union Public Service Commission’s website on February 2, 2022, inviting applications from candidates for the Civil Services Examination 2022, informs that the Government has decided to recruit 150 employees. Indian Railways. Group ‘A’ through Management Services, Civil Services Examination, 2022.
Earlier, the Center had stopped the inclusion of IRMS in the civil services in 2019. The IRMS test was conducted through the Engineering Services test.
And, in December 2019, the Ministry of Railways announced the integration of the eight existing IRMS services at all levels, from junior scale to HAG +.
As per the recent announcement of UPSC, the eligibility conditions for appointment in IRMS, Group ‘A’ will be as prescribed in the UPSC notification. Therefore, those who have already applied do not have to re-apply.
Meanwhile, application for UPSC Preliminary Examination has started on upsconline.nic.in. Candidates can apply till 6 pm on 22nd February. UPSC CSE Preliminary Examination is scheduled to be held on 5th June.
