In a letter posted on Twitter with Dr. Xbox And PlayStation Tagged directly on Twitter, the Vice Prime Minister addressed all game development companies and sports platforms. Here is an excerpt from the letter:
“Armed forces and civilians are protecting Ukraine Finally! The whole world is resisting the aggressors by imposing sanctions – the enemy must suffer significant losses. But we need your support – in 2022, modern technology is probably the best answer to tanks, multiple rocket launches (Harad) and missiles.
I am sure you will not only listen, but also do everything possible to protect Ukraine, Europe and, finally, the whole democratic world from bloody authoritarian aggression – and I urge you to temporarily block all Russian and Belarusian accounts, to temporarily stop Russian participation. And the Belarusian team and gamers at all international sporting events and canceled all international events held on the territory of Russia and Belarus. ”
@Xbox @PlayStation Now you must be aware of what is happening in Ukraine. No war declared for Russia … https://t.co/p2vhsAZwUK

If the two companies hear his call, they could stop selling copies of physical and digital games in Russia, not allow Russian teams to participate in sports tournaments, and cut off their game subscription services in Russia. While this may not bother the Russian military too much, it must be seen as an act of opposition to the invasion of Ukraine.
Microsoft has already removed the mobile apps of Russian state-owned media outlet RT from the Windows App Store and banned advertising in Russian state-sponsored media. It de-ranked search results for Russian channels on Bing and decided not to place ads on the Russian site from its ad network. Thus, it could take drastic measures in the case of Xbox console sales and subscription services in Russia.
